I Love Waterfalls!

Here I am standing under a waterfall in Fort Serenity. This is without question, the most relaxing I've done while using Second Life. As result of the anxiety disorder I've had for most of my life, I often become hyper-sensitive to noises during periods of stress. That being said, while using SL for the first time in class, I had difficulty tuning out the computers (Yes, I could hear the computers running), and a few other things I'll spare the details of.

I wish I knew about this place when first learning to use SL. Sometimes, for the reasons mentioned above, I even wish we had a waterfall in our classroom!

I was wrong. I figured out how to get in the water all by myself. Kelly would be proud!

(The flamingos look a little angry, though).

It's too bad I couldn't get in that water...I wanted to pet the Flamingo!

When All Else Fails, Fly !

After finally completing the seemingly endless log-in/registration process of Second Life, I decided to do some exploring. As you can probably tell, walking or running didn't always work out so well for me in Second Life.

Kelly knows from experience that I wasn't too thrilled having to learn to use SL, but she could definitely tell I enjoyed flying. In fact, I liked it so much that it became the action I resorted to when otherwise frustrated in Second Life.

SCARY PINK THING !.....

I got lost in Princess Park SEVERAL times without Kelly and Jim's guidance, and every time I went there, all I could think of was the "scary pink things" (A.K.A the unidentifiable explosions of pink scattered through Princess Park), and then I couldn't get out! Finally, I succeeded in navigating my way though the scary pink things. Stay tuned to see how I did it....

NOTE: This is what I'm talking about when I say visual perception difficulties. I have a HORRIBLE sense of direction, and often can't properly judge the amount of distance between objects when navigating, walking, etc.

What Happend when Kelly, Jim, and Matt left me to explore second life on my own?....

I got lost in Babydolls princess park, and couldn't get out! Thanks to my visual perception difficulties, I don't even really know how I got there in the first place, so I decided to post some of the weird stuff I saw....

Dude, Where am I ?!?

I ran into another wall, and I'm lost again! (an unfortunate side effect of having a real life visual perception problem).

For those who don't know exactly what I'm talking about when I say visual perception problem, it's a fairly common learning disability that often accompanies Cerebral Palsy, the physical disability I was born with. Stay tuned to see more of the unique challenges I faced while using second life....
